Flash Floods Hit Grobogan Central Java, Drowning 32 Villages

Central Java – Heavy rain caused flash floods in the Gubug District area of Grobogan Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday.
The floods in the Gubug District caused the main road to be submerged by overflowing water on the west side of the bridge, disrupting traffic.
According to the Central Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the cause of the floods was heavy rainfall, resulting in the overflow of water in three river basins, namely the Lusi River, Serang River, and Tuntang River, located in Grobogan Regency.

Data from the Central Java BPBD showed that the floods inundated 32 villages in 12 districts in Grobogan Regency.
These districts include Godong, Tawangharjo, Geyer, Tegowanu, Penawangan, Purwodadi, Toroh, Karangrayung, Kedungjati, Tanggungharjo, Grobogan, and Gubug.
Meanwhile, a resident remembered that the swift floodwaters damaged the paved road.
"The paved road on the roadside from the direction of Semarang has been eroded and may also erode on the highway," said the resident
The Acting Governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana, revealed that the current flood conditions have gradually subsided at several points. The situation is still being handled by the Central Java Provincial BPBD and the Grobogan Regency BPBD.
"The cause of the flood is heavy rainfall that occurred on Monday night and overflowed on Tuesday morning," Sudjana said at the Central Java Governor's Office.
Regarding mitigation efforts, the Central Java Provincial BPBD continues to coordinate with the Grobogan Regency BPBD.
This is to ensure the situation on the ground, including evacuating affected residents, preparing communal kitchens, and distributing necessary logistics.
