OJK Blocks 2.559 Illegal Online Lenders from January to March This Year

Jakarta – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) through the Illegal Financial Activities Eradication Task Force (PASTI Task Force) has blocked 2,559 illegal online lenders from January 1, 2023 to March 28, 2024.
Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Chief Executive of OJK's Education, Consumer Protection, and Financial Services Business Governance Supervisor said that from January 1, 2023 to March 28, 2024, the PASTI Task Force had blocked 2,601 illegal financial entities. This termination consists of illegal investment to illegal online lenders.
"From January 1, 2023 to March 28, 2024, the PASTI Task Force has stopped 2,601 illegal financial entities, including 42 illegal investments and 2,559 illegal online loans," Dewi said in a statement on Tuesday.
Dewi stated OJK and the PASTI Task Force continue to improve coordination in handling illegal investment and online loans.

"As of March 28, 2024, 5,249 complaints of illegal entities have been received. Consisting of 4,985 illegal online loan complaints and 264 illegal investment complaints," she added.
Dewi said in terms of law enforcement against consumer protection provisions, in the period January 1 to March 28, 2024, OJK had imposed sanctions in the form of 29 Written Warning Letters to 29 PUJK, Order Letters to 3 PUJK, and 10 Fines to 10 PUJK.
"In addition, during the period January to March 28, 2024, there were 50 PUJK that provided compensation to consumers for 172 complaints with a total of IDR 63,005,792,098," Dewi informed.
