Indonesia Eyes Over IDR979 Trillion in Investment from Singapore

Singapore, VoxPop – Investment Minister and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, is targeting investments over IDR 979.13 trillion during his working visit to Singapore.

This target is based on Singapore’s total investment in Indonesia from 2019 until June 2024, which reached IDR 979.13 trillion, accounting for 29.8 percent of Indonesia's total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

In Singapore, Minister Roeslani met with Singapore's Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, to discuss investments in sectors such as natural resource downstreaming, clean energy, and healthcare.

"The government's future priorities are the natural resource downstreaming sector, clean energy, healthcare, and human resource development," the minister said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 27).

Minister Roeslani's visit aims to understand Singapore's needs to increase its investments in Indonesia.

"We want to hear directly what the key concerns are for Singaporean entrepreneurs when investing in Indonesia," the minister remarked.

Therefore, through this meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister Roeslani will focus on concrete steps to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote strategic investment projects.

Additionally, Singapore's Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Tan See Leng, ensured that Singapore would encourage various sectors of cooperation with Indonesia, such as natural gas development, and investments in tankers and bunkers.

"Indonesia and Singapore also need to further discuss challenges in the implementation of carbon capture storage and the carbon market to accelerate cooperation in these fields. Moreover, we're also very supportive of nutrition improvement programs for the Indonesian people," Minister Leng said.
