It’s predicted that the legend of the boogeyman or bogeyman may have originated in Scotland. However, this has not been proven true. In one of the depictions, the most famous Boogeyman is a monster hiding under a bed in a children's room.
The boogeyman takes different forms depending on the country: in England, it is a shadow ghost; in Germany it is a goblin; in Russia it's Baba Yaga; and in Mexico, it's La Llorona.
In England, it’s believed that the boogeyman was once the "nickname" of the buggy man responsible for collecting the dead during the Black Plague. Because these buggy men were in constant contact with the dead, they often contracted diseases and became emaciated and very pale. It’s this appearance that is considered to have caused them to finally be called boogeymen.

Legend has it that a dragon hid in a prison cell, and as soon as he entered it, the dragon swallowed him whole. God gave St. Margaret the power to pierce the dragon's belly, which led to her survival and the dragon's death. St Margaret eventually became the patron saint of childbirth.
