CCEP and Community Effort To Control Climate Change Through Waste Management

VoxPop – Data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry shows that in one day the volume of waste per person in Indonesia reaches 0.7 kilograms, and will continue to increase as the population grows.
To overcome this problem, there needs to be awareness and community participation as well as support from various parties in sorting waste from its source, especially from the household scale. As was done by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia.
Together with residents in the area around the factory, including those in Bekasi and Sumedang Regencies, they support the management of waste reduction at the source by carrying out waste management activities and changing community behavior.
In commemoration of this year's National Waste Awareness Day, the company together with residents around the factory in Bekasi Regency harvested 825 kilograms of compost through mentoring activities for organic waste management using a composting system.
Weighing of inorganic waste was also carried out, residents around the Bekasi and Sumedang factories managed to collect a total of 602.6 kg of inorganic waste, 9.4 liters of used cooking oil and 27.4 kg of organic waste from the Taman Limo Village tourism area.
The company also held the Coca-Cola Forest Fun Learning Studio webinar, in commemoration of this year's HPSN with the theme Complete Waste Management for Community Welfare.
Director of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability CCEP Indonesia, Lucia Karina conveyed the company's commitment to collaborate with all stakeholders.
CCEP Indonesia also made a commitment to waste management by building a PET recycling plant in Bekasi, West Java, together with Dynapack Asia with an investment of IDR 556.2 billion.
The company, named PT Amandina Bumi Nusantara, is capable of producing 25,000 tons of PET per year, in accordance with government policies and international food safety standards.
On February 8, the Mahija Parahita Nusantara Foundation was also inaugurated, which will assist in procuring local recycled plastic raw materials for Amandina and provide important support for improving the welfare and standard of living of the informal waste collection community.
