President Jokowi Inpects Stocks, Prices of Food at Wonogiri Market

Central Java – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday inspected the availability and prices of several basic commodities at the Wonogiri City Market, Central Java.
"Prices are good, shallots IDR25,000, chili IDR35,000. Earlier, (chili) was up to IDR100,000, now it is IDR35,000," the President informed.
However, the Head of State found that there were some staples that experienced price increases, namely rice. However, he has ordered Bulog to deal with it.
According to the President, there is no problem with rice stocks so far at Bulog, "We just need to intervene the price,"

As previously reported, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that Indonesia's inflation in January 2024 was recorded to be the lowest in the last five years. Inflation in January was recorded at 0.04 percent on a monthly basis or month to month (mtm).
Acting Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar said that every January Indonesia always experiences high inflation.
"Historically in the last five years there has always been inflation in January," Adininggar said at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.
She explained that the main commodities causing January inflation were dominated by several volatile food commodities.
However, inflation in general can be dampened by several commodities that experience deep deflation.
"Inflation can be dampened by several commodities that experience deep deflation such as cayenne pepper, red chili, and air transportation rates," she remarked.
