OJK Reveals Tips to Manage Finance for Housewife

Jakarta – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) revealed some tips of mananging finance for housewives during the exchange rate of Rupiah in decrease which has the potential to increase food prices on the market.
Friderica Widyasari, OJK Chief Executive of Financial Services Business Conduct, Education and Consumer Protection said that for housewife who have businesses, the first thing to do is separate the budget for the business from the family spending budget.
"From a profitable business or earning income then without counting the costs, the money then goes out to the family and so on, so that has to be separated," Widyasari said at the Multipurpose Hall of the National Library, Jakarta on Tuesday.

Then, housewives are encouraged to prepare an emergency fund post, which will later be used as a cushion if there is a significant increase in food prices.
Usually, OJK advised a family to prepare an emergency fund with around 3 to 6 times their monthly expenses.
"But people are different depending on how many children they have, their monthly needs and so on," Widyasari remarked.
Finally, housewives were asked to determine a priority scale for expenditure, where primary expenditures were encouraged to be prioritized.
"Then how much is saved, how much is invested, so to fight inflation, we teach you to invest," he said.
As information, the Rupiah exchange rate is currently in decrease, where currently the rupiah exchange rate has reached the level of IDR 16,200 per USD.
